Born in 1929 in Clarksburg, Maurice Wadsworth attended Clarksburg schools graduating from Washington Irving High School.
He obtained his BSCE with high honors from WVU in 1951; served as lieutenant in the Air Force for two years; then attended the University of Illinois for one year receiving an MS degree.
He was employed by Gannett Fleming, Inc. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for his entire professional career from 1954 until retirement in 1996.
Hired as a bridge design engineer, he served successively as chief computer engineer for the Transportation Division; chief of Harrisburg Highway Section; director of Transportation Division including 12 regional and two foreign offices; senior vice president for administration; and president and chairman of the board responsible for all activities of the firm.
At retirement in 1996, the firm employed approximately 1,500 employees in 25 offices with billings over $120 million.
Wadsworth was a registered Professional Engineer in 23 states and author of several papers.
