Williamstown, WV native Michael Flowers is the retired President and CEO of American Bridge Company. Mr. Flowers is a 44-year veteran of the construction business.
He has his BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh respectively and is a Registered Professional Engineer. Flower’s has extensive domestic and international experience in the construction of long span bridges, movable bridges, bridge rehabilitation and high-rise buildings.
His projects included the reconstruction of the Williamsburg Suspension Bridge in New York City, the new MacArthur Causeway in Miami, the retrofit of the Tagus River Suspension Bridge in Portugal, the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge outside of Washington, D.C., the new Queensferry Crossing in Edinburgh and the new Tappan Zee Bridge in NY.
In 2006, Mike became the Project Director for the American Bridge led joint venture building the new $2.0 billion San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge in California. There he oversaw all aspects of the construction of this one-of-a kind single tower, self-anchored, asymmetric suspension bridge project. For his work on the new Bay Bridge, Mike was awarded the prestigious Golden Beaver Award for Supervision and ASCE’s Roebling Award.
Mike and his wife Debrah have been married for 44 years, have four children and reside in Morgantown.
