Prior to enrolling at WVU in August 1968 for the doctoral program in Civil and Environmental Engineering, he was an educator for 7 years in India. He graduate from WVU in 1972.

He has practiced consulting engineering ever since. He founded Diversified Technology Consultants (DTC). A 33 year old multi-disciplinary engineering firm employing 70 professionals with Corporate offices in Hamden, CT. and a branch office in Andover, MA. He is Chairman and CEO of DTC which has distinguished itself as a leader in the Connecticut and Massachusetts consulting community.

Outside his consulting practice, Dr. Atluru made a personal commitment to provide community service. He served on several boards and committees over the years. As an appointee of the Connecticut Governors, he served the Statewide Board of Trustees for 12 Community Technical College System for 11 years. He served as Chairman of the Standing Committee- Finance, Budget and Facilities, which was responsible for $468 million a year operating budget and nearly $800 million capital budget over a period of 10 years.

Currently, he is serving of the Advisory Board of the College of Engineering at University of New Haven, Connecticut. In addition, he is currently serving as Chairman of the Technical Education task force in the City of New Haven, Connecticut.

Dr. Atluru is recipient of numerous local, regional and national business and community service awards.
