Pericles Stivaros, Ph.D., P.E. received an MSCE for WVU in 1984, as well as a Ph.D. in 1988, He is a Vice President of GEI Consultants, a consulting engineering firm with more than 40 offices nationwide. He is a registered professional engineer in NY, NJ, CT, NH, MO, and TN. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University with an emphasis in structural engineering. His career spans over three decades as a practicing engineer, and active member of several professional organizations.

The bulk of his engineering practice includes the evaluation and rehabilitation of distressed structures, forensic engineering, and structural nondestructive testing. His work was recognized with the ACI Special Award, the Gilbane Construction Award, and the New York Concrete Industry Board Award.

Dr. Stivaros is active in several technical committees at the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and he has participated in the development of concrete-related codes and standards, including the ACI 350 Code on Environmental Concrete Structures, the ACI 562 Code Evaluation and Repair, and many other documents. He was appointed, by the ACI Board, to the ACI Technical Activities Committee that oversees the ACI’s technical documents. He was honored by ACI with the rank of a Fellow in recognition of his contributions to the concrete industry.

He is also a member of the New York City Department of Buildings Structural Code Committee and participated in the updating of the 2014 and 2022 NYC Building Codes.

Additionally, Dr. Stivaros has contributed to the engineering education with lectures and seminars that were presented at national and international forums, and he has authored numerous technical papers
