Pradeep (Prad) Perera has been involved in the geotechnical and environmental engineering fields for over 35 years. He is President of Soil and Land Use Technology, Inc. (SaLUT), a firm headquartered in MD. He has a Geotechnical Engineering M.S. from WVU (1983), a Civil Engineering B.S. from the University of Nottingham, UK (1981) and is a registered professional engineer in MD, DC, and VA.
Under Prad's leadership, SaLUT has supported landmark projects including the remediation of the former DuPont facility in Spelter, WV; the Central Artery/Tunnel in Boston, MA; Orioles Baseball Stadium in Baltimore, MD; and the widespread clean-up of Louisiana and Texas after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. SaLUT has also conducted environmental services at US Embassies in over 160 countries and has operated multiple research laboratories at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center.
In 2004 and 2010, SaLUT received the US Department of State Assistant Secretary's Award for Excellence. In 2019, Prad was named the SBA’s 8(a) Graduate of the Year.
Prad and his wife Hiranthi live in Potomac, MD. They have a daughter, Amani, and a son, Harin.
