Mr. Robert O. Orders. Sr. served in the US. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1951.
Following graduation, he worked with his father at W. R. Orders & Son as an Engineer, Field Supervisor, and Manager. In 1957 he moved to Aurora, Illinois where he worked briefly as Assistant General Superintendent for Darin & Armstrong on the construction of the Caterpillar Tractor Manufacturing Plant. In 1958 he returned to West Virginia and resumed work with W. R. Orders & Son until 1965.
In 1965 he formed Orders Construction Company, Inc. As President and General Manager, he grew the business to become one of the largest and most respected highway bridge and utility construction companies in the state.
He is a member of the several professional organizations and is a past President of the West Virginia Contractors Association.
