Stuart Matthis, PE, is a 1981 graduate of West Virginia University, finishing his BSCE with a 4.0 GPA on all engineering classes, including civil engineering. He received is MSCE from VA Tech. Since then, he has been with the same engineering consulting firm- STV/Ralph Whitehead Associates in Charlotte, NC.
Stu started as a bridge engineer and climbed the ranks into several leadership positions, most recently as a Vice President of Strategic Business Development for mega projects.
Signature projects include the award-winning US 17/Neuse River Bridge and the $1 billion CATS Blue Line Light Rail Transit System, both in North Carolina.
He is active in numerous professional societies; ASCE, ASHE, DBIA and ACEC, serves as a tenured part-time UNC-Charlotte in CEE and is a registered professional engineering in eight states.
