H. Wood “Woody” Thrasher graduated from West Virginia University in 1977 with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He currently serves as President of Thrasher Engineering, Inc., a leading Mid-Atlantic civil and consulting engineering firm, and Resource Engineering Group, Inc., a holding company comprised of civil and environmental engineering and architectural firms.

Mr. Thrasher and his father, Henry, formed Thrasher Engineering, based in Clarksburg, West Virginia in 1983, with only 3 employees. Today, Thrasher Engineering has a combined employee base of nearly 300 in the Clarksburg home office, branch offices in Charleston, Beckley, and Princeton, West Virginia, along with offices in Maryland, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The company provides engineering and architectural services, along with survey, construction management, inspection and materials testing, to towns, cities, public service districts, as well as county governments, the State of West Virginia and the Federal government. Additionally, Thrasher Engineering provides engineering and consulting services to economic development authorities and private clients.

Mr. Thrasher formed Resource Engineering Group, Inc. early in 2005. The holdings of Resource Engineering Group now also include the engineering firm of Pentree, Inc. in Princeton, West Virginia.

His forward thinking business style and hard work earned Mr. Thrasher the “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award in 2000. The award, presented by the national professional services firm of Ernst and Young, honors entrepreneurs whose ingenuity, hard work and perseverance have created and sustained successful, growing business ventures.

Mr. Thrasher is a registered Professional Engineer in the States of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland, He is the Past President of the West Virginia American Council of Engineering Companies, and of the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers. Additionally, he is affiliated with the World Presidents Organization, the Contractors Association of West Virginia, and the West Virginia Business Summit. Mr. Thrasher has also served as an officer or on the board of directors for numerous civic and charitable organizations. As a graduate of West Virginia University, he is actively involved with the school and was recently appointed to the WVU Alumni Board. He additionally serves as a member of the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Advisory Board and a member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Board.
